About Department

The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry at RDC is dedicated to train students in diagnosis and management of oral health problems in infants and children, including those with special health care needs. The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry is focused on providing dental care to children as well as in a parent friendly manner, keeping in mind the goal to build life-long trust between the dentist and the child, facilitating continuing oral health care well into their adulthood. The department accomplishes this by training their staff and instill in students the necessary principles of behaviour shaping, behaviour modification and management skillsets, as well as an in-depth knowledge into the mechanics of oral health problems of children across the various age groups. The Department conducts biannual school dental health camps to for awareness about maintainence of oral hygiene in children. The department is actively conducting a variety of research activities and has also successfully secured a government funding for a project. While pursuing a course, students are expected to adapt to all facets of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, which includes analysis, critical evaluation, diagnosis and clinical application.
