About Department

The department of Prosthodontics at Regional Dental College, Guwahati is dedicated in providing world class education, research, and clinical care. The department has become a hub for advanced prosthodontic training in the north east region of the country.

 

Academic Excellence

Our department offers comprehensive UG and PG program, designed to equip students with in-depth theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical experience. The curriculum covers the full spectrum of Prosthodontics including removable and fixed prosthodontics, maxillofacial prosthesis, dental implants, and aesthetic dentistry. Thorough rigorous training, students learn to diagnose, plan and execute complex restorative procedures, aiming to restore function, comfort and aesthetics to patients.

 

Faculty Position

Our dedicatedfaculty team plays a crucial role in teaching, clinical training, research, and community services, making a lasting impact on both students and patients.

Available positions:

1. Professor and HOD:
   • Dr. Jogewsar Barman, BDS( Gau), MDS(RGUHS), PhD( SSUHS), FICD (USA) having post PG teaching experience of more than 18 years has more than 25 publications in national and international indexed journal and many scientific deliberation in local, regional and national forum to his credit. He is leading the academic programs, guiding post graduate students, supervising research projects and providing high-quality clinical care in prosthodontics.

2. Reader/Associate Professor:
   • Dr. Rajdeep Paul, BDS (RGUHS), MDS (RMLU) having post PG teaching experience of more than 8 years has many scientific publications to his credit. He is associating in academic and clinical training, mentoring both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and actively contributing to research and curriculum development.

3. Lecturer/ Assistant Professor:
   • Dr. Alak Bhattacharyya, BDS (Osmania University), MDS(Gau) having total teaching experience of 37 years and more than 6 years of post PG teaching experience has fewscientific publications to his credit. He is assisting in teaching preclinical training, conducting clinical sessions and participating in community outreach programs.
   • Dr. Barasha Goswami, BDS(SSUHS), MDS (SSUHS) having 3 years of post PG teaching experience has many scientific publications and deliberations to his credit. She is assisting in teaching preclinical training, conducting clinical sessions, assisting with research and conducting community outreach programs.

4. Tutor:
   • Dr. Pannalal Gorlosa, BDS(Gau) havingmore than 19 years ofexperience in teaching undergraduate section including preclinical and clinical training. He is also holding the responsibility of superintendent of boys’ hostel.

 

Clinical Services

The department of Prosthodontics provides services to patients requiring tooth replacement and oral rehabilitation. Our highly skilled faculty and dedicated team of postgraduate students, offer a wide range of treatments including dentures, crowns, bridges, implant supported restoration. We also offer expertise in maxillofacial prosthetics, catering to patients with oral cancer, trauma, and congenital deformities, improving both their oral function and quality of life.
