The Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology, at Regional Dental College in Guwahati specializes in understanding the normal histology and anatomy of oral and para oral structures as well as help to identify and diagnose the diseases related to oral and maxillofacial region. This field of dentistry focuses on identifying the nature of the disease and diagnosing the disease of the Oro-facial region as early as possible.

All the faculty members are dedicated in building a strong foundation for the undergraduate students in Dental anatomy, embryology and Oral Histology as well as Oral Pathology & Microbiology.They actively participate in various research activities and have publications in National & International Journals.
Laboratory
The Department has a well-equippedlaboratory with a skilled technicianandvariousdiagnostic investigations are conductedfor earlydiagnosis of the disease primarily oralcysts, premalignant disorders, oral & maxillofacial tumors and cancers and many more Oro-facial pathologies.Pre-clinical and clinical laboratory exposure are also provided to the undergraduate students for better understanding of the subjects.
